Youth Programs

The Thea Bowman Center provides a safe place for youth in grades K through 8 to participate in a variety of learning activities (indoors and outdoors) and tutoring, and to receive a nutritious after school or summer lunch meal.  Please call 216-491-0699 or contact Sylvia:  sylvia.littleharris@theabowmancenter.org

After School Program:  2:30 pm – 5pm Monday to Thursday

  • Youth in grades K-8 engage in a variety of activities including dance, music, arts and crafts, computer time and games.

  • Indoor and outdoor activities and field trips are included.

  • Health and nutrition includes an after school meal provided by the Cleveland Foodbank. www.clevelandfoodbank.org

Tutoring:  3pm – 5pm Monday to Thursday

  • Tutoring is available for youth in grades K-8.

  • Assistance with homework is available.

Saturday Activities:  11am – 12 noon Saturday

  • Arts and crafts and games are available for youth in grades K-8 who accompany parents to the food support program.

  • Healthy lunches are provided to all youth.

  • Older youth are encouraged to participate as volunteers assisting with the food program,

Summer Program:  June to August (Exact date and time will be announced)

  • Summer Program is open to youth in grades K-8 living in the Mt. Pleasant community.

  • Information about the summer program is made available to schools, past participants and parents of other center programs beginning in April each year.

  • Registration is generally in May, however; dates and times will be announced in advance.

  • Youth are engaged in a variety of activities such as dance, music, field trips and other outings.

  • A free daily lunch is available to all youth regardless of participation in program activities.

PNC Bank “Grow Up Great Program”:  Tuesday 9:30am – 10:30am

  • The Thea Bowman Center, Oakfield Child Care Center and PNC Bank volunteers form a partnership to assist pre-Kindergarten children with learning and skill development. The children explore the computer and learn math, numbers, colors and other skills from a computerized pre-Kindergarten children’s program.
