Cuyahoga Arts and Cultural Contribution

The Thea Bowman Center received a 2016 Cuyahoga Arts and Culture grant to support the “Lift Every Voice” project. The purpose of the grant is to promote and engage youth in Mt Pleasant to participate in using their talents as vocalist and learning to play the violin or other instruments. This year long project will allow the youth (k-8th grade) to perform at four public events during the year. One event will be at Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds in Aug 2016 and other events will be announced.

How Businesses are Involved in the Center

Is your business or organization looking for ways to get involved in the Thea Bowman Center? Recently, several organizations have contributed to the Center in varied ways. In December, a business donated all of the proceeds from a company-wide holiday raffle to the Center. One company sponsored a grant for our GED program , another company helped sponsor our Youth Summer Program and a third company sponsored our printing costs. Other businesses and organizations sponsored our Annual Benefit Dinner.

HOW WOULD YOUR ORGANIZATION LIKE TO GET INVOLVED? Please contact Ella Thomas, Executive Director at ella.thomas@theabowmancenter.org if you have questions or ideas on how you would like to get involved in the Center. Thank you!

Food Service Programs Increase by 30%

Our Saturday buffet lunch and weekly food pantry have both seen a 25% to 30% increase in clients served beginning in fall of 2013. Approximately 200 children and adults are now served each Saturday in our new kitchen and enlarged dining facility. This increased need in food support is expected to continue or even rise further due to the current economy, along with the cold weather.
